On Friday April 28, 2023 I was unbanned on my Iphone. Shortly thereafter I got an email from Substack:

Hi there,
Tex here from Substack Trust and Safety. Thank you for your message.
It seems like there was an unexperienced bug in relation to Notes. We should have rolled out the fix but can you please let me know if you're still having issues?
I can still access Notes on my Ipad, but on my Iphone I get this message:
"You can't access notes at this time.
We've limited your access to Notes due to a potential violation of Substack's Content Guidelines. If you believe this is a mistake, you can submit an appeal to our Trust & Safety team."
I checked my Ipad after I clicked the "submit an appeal" link and filled out the appeal form, saying I had done nothing wrong and the following:
“This morning, Thursday April 27, 2023, I posted the following Note:
‘On May Day, Monday May 1, people should gather peacefully at the offices of their local Coroner.’
This afternoon, the same day, Notes banned me without explanation, other than to refer to their content guidelines.”
god that sounds like Twitter when they notified you of you being banned which they no longer do. They (Twitter) were trying to sell me on the $8 plan even after banning me from posting and when I gave them some shit for that they just deleted my account.
I gave up on trying to use Twitter when they (seriously) asked to see my drivers license.
Big Brother either directly created or leans heavily on these platforms.
Just think about how the world could actually change if he got his boot off our neck and actually let people talk to each other. It scares the bejesus out of him.
update 10/28/23:
Notes no longer appears on the pull down menu which is on the upper right next to the user icon.

Weird.

I cleared the cache on Safari and restarted my Iphone, and went back to Notes and got the same message that I am banned.

Leans heavily is my view.

I’ve noticed the authors that I can link to in my notes disappear. One day they were there as I typed. Then gone.
Maybe it’s something individual authors can disengage with.
It’s the only way to communicate when they lock up their comments to paid subscribers only.
This is a fabulous gatekeeping function. Ensuring hero worship and no divergent discussions.
